One door closes and another one opens

THE CART series has received another setback with the news that the receivers of the Lausitzring have cancelled the event scheduled for September 21. CART was not willing to pay to underwrite the race and so the race has been cancelled. There may be a knock-on effect for the race held at Rockingham in England as the costs of transporting the CART circus to Europe will now have to be paid by just one track rather than being shared between the two venues. CART was quick to say that the Rockingham 500 on September 14 will go ahead as planned.

But it is not all bad news for CART as the firm is doing very well in Mexico and has just launched an Hispanic marketing initiative aimed at attracting new Spanish-speaking fans and sponsors. The surge in interest in the Hispanic community is thanks to the success of Adrian Fernandez.
