Could Hubbert be the man?

THERE was speculation at Silverstone that Jurgen Hubbert, the current boss of Mercedes-Benz, may be the man in line for the job of running the GPWC. Hubbert is due to retire from the Stuttgart car company in 2004 and he recently took over as chairman of GPWC after the departure from Fiat of Paolo Cantarella.

There is no doubt that everyone in F1 is looking for a compromise solution involving all the major players in the sport at the moment and there are questions about who might have the stature to run such an organization. The suggestion that Hubbert could be the man to run the new series for the first few years is not outrageous.
