CART is not a threat to F1

CART boss Chris Pook has been busy promoting the upcoming CART race in Montreal in August and has admitted that CART is no match for Grand Prix racing - and does not intend to be.

It will be the first time for many years that CART and F1 cars will have run on the same track (albeit at different times and will give an indication as to how the two series compare. Pook says he does not expect the CART cars to be as quick as the F1s.

"We certainly won't be faster," Pook said. "You have to recognize that Formula 1 is a class of its own in the world. We're not attempting to compete with F1 at all."

Montreal is hoping to pull in crowds of around half the number that showed up in the course of the recent Canadian GP weekend.
