Larry Perkins to retire

AUSTRALASIAN MOTORSPORT NEWS is reporting that former Grand Prix driver Larry Perkins, who raced for Brabham in the mid-1970s, is to retire from racing at the age of 52. Perkins was the 1975 European Formula 3 Champion and went on to race for several teams in Formula 1 but eventually could not find a drive which did not require money and went back to Australia and turned his attention to the local racing scene. Since then Larry has won no fewer than six victories in the country's biggest motor race, the Bathurst 1000 and his Castrol-sponsored team in the V8 Supercar series is one of the most professional in Australian racing (and is now managed by former Jordan F1 team manager Jim Vale).
