Jaguar keeps in with the royals

FROM the very start Jaguar Racing has tried to emphasize the British-ness of it operation - despite the fact it is owned by Americans and run (these days) by Austrians. The team has decided to show its royalistic tendencies and for the rest of the year will have the official Golden Jubilee emblem running on its R3 racing cars in Formula 1.

The link is believed to have come about through the efforts of Sir Jackie Stewart, who has always cultivated strong links with the royal family. Jaguar Racing is the only F1 team to employ a member of the royal family: Peter Phillips, the son of the Princess Royal, works in the marketing department.

Perhaps the team might try to get some sponsorship from Prince Charles's "Duchy Originals" company...
