Mecachrome and IRL

MECACHROME, the engineering company which enjoys close links with Renault Sport, looks likely to be building the Infiniti engines for the Indy Racing League. Such a move would make a lot of sense. Infiniti is Nissan's American offshoot and the Japanese firm is now part-owned by Renault. Mecachrome, which builds own F1 engines when Renault withdrew from F1, has been looking for things to do to keep its highly-skilled workforce together.

The Infiniti engines are currently being build for Nissan by one of the many TWR companies.

The link with Mecachrome will also have been helped by the fact that former Renault Sport technical director Bernard Dudot is now in charge of the Infiniti IRL program.
