The ghost of Reynard

SOME of those who were involved in the now defunct Reynard Motorsport operation have got together to form a new company called Apollo Racing Design Limited, which bills itself as "an innovative design consultancy specializing in carbon composite design and manufacture".

The company has been founded by Peter McCool, Mike Millward, Mark Smithson and Robert Synge - all of whom worked together at Reynard. Apollo Racing Design says it has secured several high-profile contracts that had previously been serviced by Reynard, including the manufacture of carbon monocoques for Japanese Formula Nippon and the official carbon safety-cell seats for the American NASCAR series.

The company is being run by former BAR team manager and Magdwick Motorsport boss Robert Synge.

Apollo is using he facilities and autoclave at Spa in Lichfield, Staffordshire but is hoping to establish its own headquarters in the heart of the UK's renowned "Motorsport Valley" at some point in the future.
