Longanesi goes

AS we suggested would happen a week ago, the FIA has announced that Francesco Longanesi Cattani, the head of the federation's External Relations Department has departed "to pursue a prestigious new opportunity".

The FIA said that Longanesi will continue to undertake project work for the FIA including coordinating the annual prize giving ceremony in Monaco.

As expected the department comes under the control of the FIA's director of communications Richard Woods. He will now be responsible for all FIA communications in both the sport and automotive sectors.

The move comes at a time when the FIA is restructuring following its the establishment of the FIA Foundation and the organization's financial independence from Formula 1.

More changes are expected.
