Bourdais on pole for Barcelona Formula 3000 race

SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS maintained his perfect qualifying record this season by claiming a third successive pole position for the Super Nova Racing team. Bourdais was beaten in Brazil but won a dominant victory in Imola and is the favorite to repeat that success in Spain. Bourdais qualified ahead of pre-season title favorite Tomas Enge (Arden) and Italy's Giorgio Pantano (Coloni).

Bourdais is hoping that a victory in Spain will take him to the top of the championship table. The current leader is Rodrigo Sperafico, who qualified sixth in Barcelona in his Durango Formula Lola.
