David Brown amongst the Jordan victims

A total of 58 jobs have gone at Jordan in recent days although a number of those departing are believed to have gone of their own accord rather than being laid off.

In addition to Trevor Foster, John Putt and Tim Holloway, the list of those departing includes David Brown, who has been involved in the sport for 20 years. Brown engineered two World Champions: Nigel Mansell in 1992 and Alain Prost in 1993. Brown was Ayrton Senna's engineer in 1994 and then ran Damon Hill until offered a job at McLaren in 1996. He stayed with the McLaren F1 team for a season and then began to run the McLaren's Young Driver program which led to his appointment as the managing-director of West Competition, the McLaren Formula 3000 team, in 1998.

He joined Jordan in 2001.
