New F1 Safety Car on show in New York
THE Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG roadster, which will appear this autumn and is scheduled to be the next Formula 1 Safety Car was unveiled last week at the New York Motor Show. The high-performance edition of the SL500, its 5.5-liter V8 engine supercharged to 465hp, features a five-speed automatic gearbox with steering-wheel mounted "Speedshift" buttons and electronic braking.
The F1 Safety Car role may not be the most exciting automobile advertising in the world but with F1 currently having plenty of accidents the Safety Car is certainly getting a lot of coverage...
