The new broom sweeps through BAR

BRITISH AMERICAN RACING has as expected had a clear out of its technical and marketing staff with around 50 staff leaving. The major victims of the clear-out are engineering director Malcolm Oastler and chief designer Andy Green although chief aerodynamicist Willem Toet is also believe to have been given his marching orders.

Team boss David Richards said that he had made the changes because the team "had not delivered".

Richards said that he intends to rebuild the team with new people.

"We have many extremely talented people and what we are now doing is giving them the framework within which they can fulfil their potential."
