Liqui Moly to sponsor Jordan

THE German lubricant company Liqui Moly is to return to Formula 1 after an eight-year absence as a sponsor of Jordan Grand Prix for the next two years. The Ulm-based firm has a long history of involvement in the sport, notably in the 1980s with the late Manfred Winkelhock. Liqui Moly sponsored Winkelhock's efforts with ATS and RAM and after he was killed in a sportscar race at Mosport Park in 1985 the company later sponsored his brother Jo Winkelhock's efforts to qualify an AGS in the 1989 F1 season.

Liqui Moly reappeared in 1993 with Sauber.

The Jordan deal may lead to a test drive for Markus Winkelhock, Manfred's son, who is currently a leading runner in the German Formula 3 series, racing for Mucke Motorsport.
