Alesi tests McLaren at Paul Ricard

AS scheduled, Jean Alesi tested for McLaren at the Paul Ricard circuit on Tuesday. The Frenchman was offered the test after signing a deal to drive for Mercedes in the 2002 German touring car series (DTM).

Alesi has started more than 200 Formula 1 races, but has never been recognized for his testing abilities. He is, however one of the few men to have driven on both Bridgestone and Michelin rubber, and it is thought that this is why McLaren is interested in him.

The F1 veteran apparently enjoyed Tuesday's test, as he later said he would like to continue testing for the team.
