Webber beats Montoya!

THE MELBOURNE AGE newspaper dredged up an interesting story on Friday when it reported that Williams F1 star Juan Pablo Montoya stopped off on his way into the city from the airport when he spotted a go-kart circuit in Port Melbourne. He asked if he could have a go and completed 40 laps of the 400m circuit, watched by an incredulous group of spectators. When he was given his lap times it was pointed out to him that his 27.8secs best was not the fastest time ever recorded at the circuit. The record (27.3secs) was set in September 2000 by a rising young Australian racing driver by the name of... Mark Webber.

According to the track owner when Montoya heard the news he gave a wry smile and headed off towards Albert Park.
