Jordan to announce DHL deal today
AS we exclusively predicted a couple of weeks ago Deutsche Post is to take over the title sponsorship of the Jordan team with its DHL courier company expected to be given the naming rights for the next three years. The deal is believed to be worth around $35m a year to the Silverstone team. The team's title sponsor in recent years Benson & Hedges will stay on as a subsidiary sponsor.
It is anticipated that the team will also announce that Marcel Lasee will be its test driver this year. Lasee is a Deutsche Post protege. The team is expected to name several new minor sponsors as well.
The important question now is how the team does this year as the team has had a couple of disappointing seasons after doing well in 1999 when Heinz-Harald Frentzen won two races and finished third in the World Championship.
