Herbert switches his attention to CART
JOHNNY HERBERT is taking his time to get back into single-seater racing. Herbert left F1 at the end of 2000 but could not find a decent drive in 2001 and in recent months has been tipped a possible driver with Red Bull Team Cheever in the Indy Racing League. That deal now seems to have fallen out of bed with Tomas Scheckter now expected to get the drive and Herbert is now being mentioned as a possible second driver with Sigma Autosport, alongside Max Papis. The deal is dependent on money being found but the team is confident that a deal will be done shortly with a potential new sponsor.
Herbert's bubbly personality would be a big bonus for CART.
