Galopin moves to Pescarolo

THE demise of the DAMS Formula 3000 project has released longtime engineer Claude Galopin onto the job market. Galopin is a former Ligier engineer who became a designer with AGS and then went back to Ligier to design for the team. He was fired by Guy Ligier in 1991 and moved to DAMS where in 1995 he designed the DAMS GD01 F1 prototype. This was never raced as the team could not find the sponsorship to make the leap into F1 and in recent years Galopin has contented himself engineering Sebastien Bourdais and others.

Galopin is expected to work with former Toyota Motorsport technical director Andre de Cortanze on the design of a Pescarolo Le Mans sportscar for the 2003 season.

DAMS currently has no plans but is looking at competing in Formula Nissan in Spain.
