Formula 3000 takes some hits

THE F1-supporting Formula 3000 circus is not as healthy as it once was with the announcement this week that Prostar, the Prost GP junior team, has been liquidated and that the Belgian team KTR has decided not to compete this year and is switching to the Formula Open Nissan series in Spain, which is seen as much better value for money. The team has been active in Formula 3000 since 1997 but team owner Kurt Mollekens says that it makes no sense to continue as the Spanish series costs less than half the budget of F3000 and the level or performance of the cars is similar.
