How NASCAR does business

THE start of a new season is always a time when there is a great deal of media interest in the sport. NASCAR has long understood the need to help the press and has long been staging a pre-season Media Tour in the Charlotte area, introducing the media to the big teams and explaining various aspects of the sport to the pressmen who may not know as much as the regulars. The Media Tour is sponsored by UAW and General Motors.

This year's NASCAR Media Tour is a five-day affair with visits to the big teams, launches, interview opportunities, entertainment and a symposium called "The Business of Motorsports".

This is not expected to dwell much on the affairs of the rest of the world...

Formula 1 has yet to adopt as enlightened an attitude towards the media.
