Enge to join Arden in Formula 3000

TOMAS ENGE, who raced for the Prost team at the end of last season, has given up his plans to try to find a ride in Formula 1 this season. It is being reported in the Czech media that Enge will announce on Friday that he will lead Arden Team Russia in Formula 3000. Enge finished third in the series this year with Coca-Cola Nordic Racing and so will start the new season as the strong favorite to win the F3000 title. It will be his third full season in F3000.

The news means that Enge is not in the running for a drive with Prost and this will add to the likelihood that Australia's Mark Webber will get a ride with either Minardi or Prost. Alain Prost has, however, said that it is possible that with his new backing (which is yet to be confirmed) he will be able to run a French driver.
