Goodbye Nortel

THE BMW Williams team does not have much space available on its cars at the moment but the end of the 2001 season marked the finish of the team's three-year relationship with Canada's Nortel Networks. The company has suffered in recent months because of the downturn in the high-technology industries where it was one of the industry leaders.

Nortel will be replaced by a new sponsor but at the moment the team is keeping quiet about the identity of the new backer. All will be revealed at the launch of the new car, scheduled to take place at Silverstone at the end of January.
