Awards all round

FERRARI has been named team of the year by the French daily sports newspaper L'Equipe, easily outrunning the nearest challengers by taking nearly 28% of the vote. At the same time, down in Colombia the voting for the country's Athlete of the Year by the El Tiempo newspaper produced no real surprises when it resulted in the award going to BMW Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

The Colombian government sporting agency did not agree with the choice, naming a speed skater as its Athlete of the Year.
