Manning hopes for an F1 break

DARREN MANNING has failed to make much of an impression in Formula 3000 in the last couple of years and until recently was looking to a future with the Premier 1 Grand Prix series. However as that will now not happen until 2003 (if at all), Manning is looking for something to do in 2002 and he has expressed the hope that his job as a BAR test driver might turn into a full-time drive if Jacques Villeneuve decides to leave the team.

"I think that I could be just as good as Jenson Button or Kimi Raikkonen," Manning told The Sunday People newspaper in Britain. "All I need is the chance to prove myself."
