Imola now faces problems with San Marino GP future
Word from Italy suggests that the race could be dropped from the F1 calendar unless state money is used to secure its future, according to the head of the Italian Automobile Association Franco Lucchesi.
Lucchesi has said that while a deal is in place to secure both the Monza and Imola races for the long-term future, the owners of the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari need to guarantee by next year that they are in a position to carry out the necessary renovations to the circuit.
Apparently Monza has already approved a program of upgrading, but Imola still has to do so.
Commented Lucchesi; "The regional authority and government must give a concrete economic contribution."
