Prost and the Belgians

THERE have been reports in the Belgian press in recent day suggesting that the giant brewing company Interbrew, owner of Stella Artois, Labatt and Becks, could become a major sponsor of the team for the coming season if Prost agrees to run Belgian Formula 3000 driver Bas Leinders.

The future of Prost remains clouded with no decision yet taken about whether or not the team will be using Ferrari V10 engines next year and the delay in a decision could mean that Prost will have no choice but to go into the new season using the same engines as the team had this year.

Whatever the case, it seems that things are finally coming to a head at Prost with some form of announcement expected within the next 10 days. The danger for Prost now is that potential buyers may be better off waiting for the team to seek protection from an administrator as it will be cheaper to buy the assets from a liquidator than it will be to acquire them from Alain Prost.
