Briscoe to test Toyota F1 car next year

RYAN BRISCOE, the 20-year-old racer from Sydney is due to have his first test of an F1 car shortly. The announcement was made by Toyota's F1 boss Ove Andersson at the Toyota Motor Show. Briscoe is due to test for the team in early November before Toyota is forced to stop testing on November 15 when it has to put in its entry for the 2002 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The test is expected to be at Paul Ricard.

If the test goes ahead, Briscoe will be the third Australian to test an F1 car this year, following in the footsteps of Mark Webber, the Benetton test driver, and James Courtney, who had a run earlier in the year with Jaguar.
