Toyota's final test is over

MIKA SALO and Allan McNish finished off their testing this year with a three-day test at Suzuka. The team was developing launch control and engine mapping and learning some of the vagaries of Suzuka. The team suffered some problems with hydraulic systems and with fuel pressure. The two drivers completed 150 laps between them with Salo doing more than 100 during the first two days and McNish doing 50 laps on the third day.

Both men recorded best laps in the 1m38s. This does not compare very well with Michael Schumacher's recent pole position lap of 1m32.484s.
