Ferrari tries radar system

FERRARI went testing at Fiorano on Saturday using a brand new radar system which is designed to show drivers whether there are cars ahead of them on the track and whether or not they are running at normal speeds or slowing down. The device, which is being developed in collaboration with the FIA, is designed to avoid accidents in wet conditions when a driver's view is obscured by spray. Wheel on wheel accidents are considered to be the most dangerous form of racing accidents today, although thankfully they are rare. In Melbourne this year Jacques Villeneuve ran into the back of Ralf Schumacher and a crowd marshal was killed by flying debris which went through a small gap in the safety fencing.
