TESTING continued in Barcelona on Thursday with four teams participating. McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz set the fastest time of the day, 1m 20.37s, half a second faster than Ralf Schumacher. The younger Schumacher took over the Williams testing duties from Darren Turner, who was behind the wheel Wednesday. Regular Williams test driver Mark Gene also tested Thursday.
Eddie Irvine tested the Jaguar for the second day in a row, and will be relieved by Pedro de la Rosa on Friday.
Mark Webber continued development of Renault's 2002 package on Thursday and will be running a new spec of engine on Friday, which will be used in qualifying at the final round of the 2001 World Championship in Suzuka, Japan.
