Schumacher pondered retirement

FERRARI technical Ross Brawn revealed on Sunday that Michael Schumacher came close to retiring after the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington. Brawn was talking to BBC Radio.

Brawn said that Schumacher had been very upset at the Italian GP, where he tried unsuccessful to organize a driver boycott of the start.

"There was talk of retirement," Brawn said, "but a few days of consideration reminded him how much he loves racing."

There have been rumors in the F1 paddock in recent days that Schumacher was put under considerable pressure by the racing authorities to make sure that he appeared in the United States and Japan.
