F1 sponsor shows the way in New York
SAUBER sponsor Credit Suisse yesterday listed itself on the New York Stock Exchange, the first major company to do so since the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center two weeks ago. Credit Suisse lost only one employee in the attacks but decided to go ahead with the listing to show the world that life must go on even in the face of the appalling disaster that struck the city.
It remains to be seen if Formula 1 will make a similar gesture at Indianapolis this weekend although the very fact that the race will take place sends strong signals around the world.
It is worth noting that while F1 insists on going ahead as normal the American Le Mans Series has postponed the race that was planned for Malaysia on November 11 because of the terrorist attacks. The organizers say that the race will be rescheduled for some point early next year.
