Simpson leaves Simpson

BILL SIMPSON, a man who has helped to make motor racing a safer through the development of various safety equipment, has resigned from the company which bears his name. The decision comes as a result of Dale Earnhardt's accident in February. The Simpson company received a great deal of bad press (all of it without much foundation) as a result of the accident. Simpson sold the majority shareholding of his company several years ago but remained the figurehead of the organization.

Simpson said his resignation came because he could not separate the business of safety from personal relationships.
