Donington loses Superbikes to Silverstone
DONINGTON PARK has lost its round of the World Superbike Championship to Silverstone. The news was revealed with the international motorcycling federation released its 2002 calendar on Tuesday. Silverstone still has to undergo safety checks but if all goes to plan the race will be held on May 26. There will be a second British round of the series at Brands Hatch on July 28.
The news will come as a big blow to Donington which is planning a major rebuild in the months ahead. The move is a major victory for Octagon Motorsports which controls both Brands Hatch and Silverstone and is a blow to rival entertainment company SFX which controls Donington.
