Donington Park making improvements

BRITISH race circuit Donington Park is planning a major facelift to improve facilities and possibly take the British Grand Prix to the Midlands track in the future.

American entertainment company SFX own the lease for the circuit, and they want to make major improvements which will cost £36 million (pounds) if planning permission is given the all clear.

Plans have been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council and a meeting will be held later this month to consider the application to change the design of the track from McLeans to Redgate.

The pit-lane and paddock complexes will be moved to a new straight, and Fearnall is committed to the redevelopments despite no guarantees of hosting the British Grand Prix until at least 2016.
