Montoya backs away from Button comparison

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA has denied that there are any comparisons between himself and Briton Jenson Button, the man he replaced in the Williams car this year.

The Colombian believes that the only parallels that can be drawn is the fact that they have both driven for BMW-Williams.

"You can't compare it because a car counts for so much of it," said Montoya.

Montoya has scored points in just two of the 10 races this year after a series of non-retirements while Button has struggled with an under-performing Benetton squad.

Montoya said: "It's impossible to compare yourself with anybody because every case is different. Jenson had a tougher time at the beginning of last year because it was the first year with BMW and everything, and he still did a good job.

"But I'm also pretty pleased with what I've done, two podiums, I can't complain about."
