FERRARI have been fined $10,000 after team mechanics were forced to illegally work on the stricken car of Rubens Barrichello in the pit-lane during qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The mechanics worked around the stopped car of Barrichello as the field prepared to leave the pit-lane near the end of the qualifying session.
The cars had gathered in the pits after the session had been red-flagged when Nick Heidfeld crashed his Sauber into the wall at the chicane just minutes before the end.
