MG opens competition department

THE MG Rover car company has established a racing subsidiary to be known as MG Sport and Racing Ltd. The new organization will oversee three separate sporting projects this year with the MG Lola EX257 racing in the Le Mans 24 Hours in June; a two-car team in the British Touring Car Championship with a model which will be known as the EX259. These will be driven by Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes but will not make their first appearance until the autumn.

MG Rover will also be active in rallying with the EX258 car which will be driven by 1996 British Rally champion

Gwyndaf Evans. This will not appear until November.
