Bridgestone prepare soft compound for Imola

BRIDGESTONE have introduced a new softer compound tire for the San Marino Grand Prix as they aim to head-off the challenge of rivals Michelin.

Tire supplier Bridgestone have three wins to their name this year and have prepared a softer type of tire in anticipation for the demands of the Imola circuit this weekend.

"Imola is not a difficult track in terms of tire wear, not is it very fast," technical director Hisao Suganuma said. "It does require higher levels of grip so softer tires are likely to be popular, especially in low temperatures.

"But there are also corners like Acque Minerale which demand stability from the tires, especially on the rear. The balance between tire construction and compound is important."
