Toyota appoints team coordinator

TOYOTA MOTORSPORT is continuing to build up its infrastructure in Cologne and has just hired Italian Gianfranco Fantuzzi to be the team coordinator, working with team manager Ange Pasquali.

Fantuzzi has been involved in Formula 1 since 1976 when he joined Ferrari at the age of 17. He stayed with the team throughout the 1980s and most of the 1990s and by 1992 was working as race engineer with Ivan Capelli and later with Gerhard Berger before he was replaced by Luigi Mazzola after Jean Todt took over the running of the team. Fantuzzi moved to Minardi in the middle of 1998 and worked as race engineer for Luca Badoer in 1999 and for Gastone Mazzacane in 2000.
