Ashmore leaves Reynard

AS we suggested would happen some weeks ago, Bruce Ashmore, the President of Reynard's North American Operations, is leaving the company. Ashmore is to become technical director of the Players Forsythe Racing Team. The team will continue to field Patrick Carpentier and Alex Tagliani in CART next season.

Ashmore is the latest of a number of Reynard employees to leave the company, underlining the problems which Adrian Reynard is believed to be having in Britain.

Reynard issued a press statement saying that Ashmore's role would be taken by Jeff Swartout, who has been running Reynard North America with Ashmore in recent years. Engineer Dave Pitchforth will head the Auto Research Center (ARC) facility in Indianapolis. Ashmore has played an important role in CART since the 1980s when he was chief designer for Lola before he switched to Reynard.
