Schumacher finishes third in German poll

FORMULA ONE World Champion Michael Schumacher has been voted the third most popular German sportsmen.

The Ferrari champion, who collected his third World title in October at the Japanese Grand Prix, came third in a national poll held by German television channel ARD, finishing behind Olympic 800-meters champion Nils Schumann and cycling champion Jan Ullrich.

Many had expected Schumacher to win the category, but it is thought that Ferrari's rivals McLaren, who use Mercedes engines, could have voted against him.
