Honda chief reiterates no favoritism next year

Honda managing director Takefumi Hosaka has reiterated that there will be no favoritism in the 2001 world championship despite the Japanese engine supplier providing British American Racing and Jordan with power-units.

Silverstone-based Jordan will be powered by a works' engine for the first time in their ten-year history and Hosaka has rubbished suggestions that the manufacturer will favor their new partnership.

"We are still making our plans for next year," Hosaka said. "But we have announced that our collaboration with BAR will continue and we will also supply Jordan.

"We will supply the same engines to both. The engines will be based on this year's but we will have some new power devices. Performance-wise we would like to push ahead of other teams.

"We already have some experience in supplying more than team because our predecessors at Honda were then supplying two and sometimes even three teams."
