Kristensen set for Jaguar test

DANISH racer Tom Kristensen is in talks with Jaguar about a possible testing role with the team for next year.

Kristensen is currently racing for Honda in the British Touring Car Championship, but is also heavily involved with Formula One as a test driver for Michelin.

In the last year he has tested tires for the French company driving both a Williams and a 1999 spec Stewart. He has impressed the Jaguar team so much that he is now high on their list for the coming season.

Jaguar boss Neil Ressler has enthused about the driver: "He has impressed our test team - he's a fantastic test driver, and our engineers are crazy about him."

The Dane has also tested for Toyota and Minardi, so has plenty of F1 experience under his belt. He hopes it will now make people sit up and take note. "I am focusing on doing the job at hand for Michelin," said Kristensen. "I hope the right people will notice my skills."

He is not being considered for the race seat at Jaguar, but if the team's current tester Luciano Burti takes that place, it may open the door for Kristensen to join the test team.
