Protester may cost Hockenheim future

THE FIA may still punish Hockenheim for failing to prevent the protestor that made his way onto the circuit during the German Grand Prix.

Robert Sehli was named as the intruder and was protesting against his sacking from Mercedes-Benz, by cutting through wire fencing and walking alongside the track and crossing the circuit.

The safety car was deployed and marshals removed the man from the scene, but he already left his mark on the race.

Officials at the circuit will submit a report to the FIA, which may then take further action against the track itself or German motorsport's governing body, the AvD.

Hockenheim is pursuing its own civil trespassing case against 47-year-old Sehli.
