Wurz in hospital as Fisichella tops Valencia times

BENETTON'S Alexander Wurz was taken to the hospital in Spain on Saturday after suffering damage to his right leg in an accident in crash while testing in Valencia, Spain.

Austrian Wurz, who is expected to leave the team at the end of the season after failing to finish in the points so far this season, spun off in the team's final day of testing in Valencia and crashed heavily into the barriers casting his place on the Hungarian Grand Prix grid in doubt.

One of the wishbones of his car hit his right leg and damaged the muscle but x-rays ruled out a broken leg.

If he is not able to compete in the Hungaroring event, British Formula Three Championship leader Antonio Pizzonia, who has tested with the team this season, is the most likely replacement.

Wurz had gone second quickest before his accident, just one-tenth of-a-second behind team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella who posted a fastest lap time of one minute and 15.78 seconds.

Arrows' Jos Verstappen was third quickest of the day ahead of McLaren's David Coulthard, who opted to work on the set-up of the car.

Jaguar test driver Luciano Burti ended fifth quickest of the day ahead of Sauber test driver Enrique Bernoldi with BMW-Williams' Ralf Schumacher in seventh after taking over from Jenson Button.

Meanwhile, Luca Badoer completed Ferrari's Hungarian Grand Prix preparations as he ended testing at Fiorano. He completed 64 laps with a best lap time of one minute and 09.705 seconds.
