McLaren duo dominant in Valencia

MCLAREN duo David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen continued to prove they have what it takes to win the world championship this year as they topped the times in Friday's testing in Valencia, Spain.

Coulthard was quickest of the day with a lap time of one minute and 16.134 seconds to outpace his Finnish team-mate by 0.15 seconds.

Arrows' Pedro de la Rosa, who has impressed with his pace throughout the season, was third quickest of the day with Sauber's Pedro Diniz in fourth.

Benetton duo Alexander Wurz and Giancarlo Fisichella ended fifth and sixth quickest respectively as they worked on aerodynamic settings in preparation for the Hungarian Grand Prix next weekend. Jaguar test driver Luciano Burti was seventh fastest.

BMW-Williams pairing Jenson Button and Ralf Schumacher were eighth and ninth respectively. Briton Button was upbeat about the downforce work he had been carrying out.

"We continued with the high downforce work in the hope of optimizing the package for Budapest," Button said. "I am pleased with the work we have done in the past two days."
