Irvine passed fit to race in Germany
Ulsterman Irvine missed the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend after suffering from suspected appendicitis, but after extensive tests he has been diagnosed as having an inflamed intestine, which will cure itself with rest.
"I've been given the all-clear which is a huge relief," Irvine said. "I'm feeling fresh, relaxed and ready to go.
"Although I have been told to rest for the next couple of days, I'm very keen to get back into the cockpit.
"I'm looking forward to Hockenheim. I have been keeping tabs on the team's Silverstone test this week and we're all encouraged by what has been achieved."
Irvine was replaced by Jaguar test driver Luciano Burti at the A1-Ring last weekend, and he praised the Brazilian for his display in his first ever grand prix.
"Under the circumstances, Luciano did a very good job," he said. "He has also made a big contribution to our Silverstone test program in readiness for Hockenheim."
