Schumacher to miss European Grand Prix

MICHAEL SCHUMACHER is not going to be back in action at the European Grand Prix in two weeks. The German ace has announced that he still needs more time for his leg injuries to heal and so is pulling out of his home event. Mika Salo will continue to drive the number three Ferrari as a result.

"The recovery process is taking place normally," said Schumacher's spokesman Heiner Buchinger, "but sadly it is not going any quicker than expected."

Schumacher is now expected to be back in action at the Malaysian Grand Prix, at Sepang, in mid-October, three months after his crash at Silverstone.

"I still need four weeks before resuming full training," said Schumacher, "so the Nurburgring is not going to be possible."
