...where there are big changes

FOLLOWING the takeover of Arrows by a new consortium, the management of the Leafield team has been swept away with OperationsÊManager Gordon Message and Team Manager John Walton having been dumped and the team restructured around a new managing director Roger Silman.

Silman is no stranger to Grand Prix racing but he will need a good memory as he has not been involved since he left the Toleman team in January 1984.

Since then the 53-year-old Briton has been working with Walkinshaw, overseeing the Jaguar sportscar programs and in recent years as director of operations for the entire TWR Group.

The team has also appointed a new team manager, Rod Benoist is another TWR veteran and has been involved in recent years in the running of the various TWR Le Mans 24 Hours programs.

Insiders say that last year there was too much middle management at Arrows and not enough senior management. Silman's appointment should fill that gap.
